How long do breast implants last?

Many patients ask if their breast implants need to be replaced every ten years.  I tell them that their implants should be monitored and they should consider secondary surgery only if there is an indication:  implant rupture, capsular contracture, rippling, size or shape concerns, etc.  Note:  you may find that there is a  time limit on portions of many breast prosthesis warranty programs.
